由于过氧化物的焦烧时间一般比硫磺硫化体系还要短，在较高的操作温度下，易出现胶料的早期硫化。交联剂SP40相对于传统的DCP在胶料硫化诱导期的过程中做到早期快速长时间屏蔽自由基，以提供良好的防焦烧保护，在胶料硫化温度的临界点快速释放，可以起到相互活化作用，并能减少硫化时间，提高交联密度。
